Cold Process soaping temperature is a personal preference and will vary slightly depending on the recipe. While most soapers prefer to soap between (120-130 ° F), there are times when you will want to soap higher or lower:
When to Keep Soaping Temps Cool (100-110 ° F) | When to keep Soaping Temps Hot (131-160 ° F) |
You want to prevent gel phase | You want to promote gel phase |
You are making soap with alternative liquids (milk, juice, tea, etc) instead of water | You want to prevent soda ash |
You want to prevent glycerin rivers | To help soap saponify quicker |
