Thickeners are useful in liquid cosmetics such as shower gel and bubble bath. Use them to off set the thinning which many occur from adding fragrance oils or essential oils as well.  

### BEESWAX

Beeswax is a cost-effective barrier cream and superior to most mineral-oil based creams. It functions as an emollient and humectant in lip products, creams, salves, and many cosmetic products.  As a thickening agent, it will not clog pores and is anti-allergenic.   WSP 

**Melting Point**: 144 to 147 °F

**Solubility**: Insoluble in water. Slightly soluble in cold alcohol and completely soluble in fixed or volatile oils, chloroform, ether, benzene and carbon disulfide.

**Usage Rate**: 1-3% in CP Soap-Mix into the oils.  Oil temp should be about 160ºF or 170ºF before mixing it in.  Can accelerate trace

**Max Temp**: 185 °F to avoid discoloration

*   Beeswax candles do not produce toxic by-products or heavy soot. Thought to neutralize air pollutants.
*   Beeswax provides a light skin feel, hardness to lipstick, and improves the thermal stability of butters.
*   Chemically, beeswax consists mainly of esters of fatty acids and various long-chain alcohols.
*   It is very stable and subject to deterioration by very few solvents.
*   Great thickener, it's an emulsifier only if used with borax & if you're using less water than oil. It'll provide "mechanical" emulsification that'll slowly separate.
*   Beeswax Ivory has a slightly smokey scent from smoking the bees out of their hives to harvest the wax.
